Reading, like smoking, pulls everyday life into the frame—a bridge between the ordinary and the imagined. It’s the launch point.
1. Charlie Day (open fly)
Sometimes it’s quiet and contemplative—a man with a paper, a book, a cup of coffee. Other times, it leans the other way—a girlie or beefcake magazine, something meant to stir a reaction…not just pass the time.
2. Unkown Model (ginger w girlie mag)
3. Unkown Models (hotel mates)
4. Marty Stevens (close up)
It also elevates the image in a subtle way. The model isn’t just a body—he’s occupied, focused, maybe even thoughtful. Studying, passing time, or just unwinding. For the viewer, that creates distance. He’s not looking back. He’s in his own world. And that’s where the voyeurism slips in—we’re watching something private, uninterrupted.
5. Tom Kane (bedtime story)
6. Giancarlo Zampetti (lawn chair)
7. Brian Taylor (homework)
I like these images for that quiet play with innocence. “I’m just reading… minding my own business.” Meanwhile, we’re free to look as long as we like, wherever our eye wants to go.
8. Jack Virgil (dress shoes and socks)
9. Unknown Model (skin rag)
10. Kyle Jessup (red carpet and novel)
Thoughts?
Need IDs for #s 2, 3, and 9. Is literacy hot?

Image #10 looks like Colt model Kyle Hazard.
ReplyDeleteCurious if it is seem model and had a pseudonym? I think Hazard is a little beefier, but these guys often buffed up over time. I definitely see the resemblance. bns
Delete*same model not ‘seem’ effing autocorrect!
DeleteSome of these guy look like they are actually reading something istead of just looking at racy pictures, lol. Of course, they might be reading racy stories.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The trying to imagine the lead up. “Here, read this,” or “look at this.” Many photographers took pictures like this. So curious what they were thinking. I didn’t think of this, but maybe it’s a “domestic” fantasy…roommates, boyfriends, or a family member chilling at home, studying, or caught in a private moment. What do you think? bns
DeleteI like reading so.....Lol. #10 is Kyle Jessup. You can see his layout on the Colt site.
