Reading, like smoking, pulls everyday life into the frame—a bridge between the ordinary and the imagined. It’s the launch point.

It also elevates the image in a subtle way. The model isn’t just a body—he’s occupied, focused, maybe even thoughtful. Studying, passing time, or just unwinding. For the viewer, that creates distance. He’s not looking back. He’s in his own world. And that’s where the voyeurism slips in—we’re watching something private, uninterrupted.

I like these images for that quiet play with innocence. “I’m just reading… minding my own business.” Meanwhile, we’re free to look as long as we like, wherever our eye wants to go.
