Ropes

Ropes show up surprisingly often in physique photography, and they can go almost anywhere. Give a model something to pull against and muscles immediately come to life; coil it up and it becomes a hoop or frame; hand it to two guys and suddenly there's a game of tug-of-war or rodeo underway.

1. Ricky Albioni seated on a stool holding a rope hung from above.

2. Jock Peterman hanging diagonally from a rope by Bob Mizer.

3. Vic Seipke, the one and only, tied up with 2 ropes behind his back. Notice the nice tuft in front.

4. Dick Buckholtz pulling a pair of ropes.

5. Ron Dzvorcin stretching what looks to me like a curtain tie cord. This photo has a sublime beauty form me.  Anyone else?

6. Bob Gentry pulling a rope creating beautiful muscle tension and curve to his body.

7. Dale Gilbert tied at the elbows and pulling away.  I love the genuine playful smile here.

8. Bob Estelita in a twisted pose carrying a large rope.  This rope reminds me of P.E. class in school, as we had to climb this type, and I was always embarrassed to come down afterward as I'd sprung a boner from all the friction every time.

9. Bob More (pseudonym I'm guessing by the size of him) in cowboy garb holding lasso rope like a hoop to frame his groin. Odd detail, but notice how oily his feet are. What's up with that?

But rope carries another possibility too: restraint. As the set progresses, play starts giving way to kink, ending with Danny Alson tied to a tree and cowboy Greg Strom with his arms bound behind him. Same simple prop, very different fantasy.

10. Danny Alsop tied naked to a tree with a pained "struggling" expression on his face. I have so many questions about how the photographer and model collaborated on this shot.

11. A bonus shot of Gregg Strom in a cowboy hat and bandana scarf with his hands tied behind his back.  Most of the images I have of Strom involve some sort of BDSM, which makes me curious whether this was suggested by the photographer or the model...or both??
